Sept Tuggeranong Tornadoes extended there 99 ACTGL
winning streak to 3 games with a 12 - 0 win over the Canberra Tigers.
Tuggeranong scored early in the first quarter but the Tiger's Defensive
unit got quite a work out hold the Tornadoes offence until 4:30
remaining in the 4th quarter when they scored again. A frustrated Tiger
offensive never gain and advantageous field advantage throughout the
game. On a sadder note, Tornadoes #23 Justin Watson, one of the Tornadoes and the League's outstanding player's was carted of by ambulance after 6 minutes of 1st quarter play with a suspected broken ankle just as his family arrived to see the League great play. Things just were not going Justin's way on Saturday, his never missed a game streak has been broken along with his ankle AND the ambo's trolley broke after they put the 110 kg running back on it to move him to hospital. outstanding overtime play the University of Canberra Firebirds came
through to beat the Canberra Tigers 12 to 6. University scored 2 field
goals in the 2nd Quarter but the Canberra Tigers defence held out until
throughout the game allowing no other scores. The Tigers had a chance to
take the lead with 8:58 left in the 4th quarter but could not convert
the PAT. University Chose defence in the first tie break period and held
the Tigers scoreless. The Firebirds then came through with a TD that
ended the game. |

16 Oct It finally happened!!! Tuggeranong Tornadoes' 17 game winning streak came to an end today. The Canberra Tigers' win over the Tornadoes ended the longest winning streak in League history. The Tigers offence took advantage of a lack lustre Tornadoes and maintained the defence they are known for to carry through for an almost faultless 20 - 0 win. |

23 Oct In a closely pitched battle, the Canberra Tigers won narrowly over the University Firebirds 20 to 14 in Round 8 of the ACGTL competition. The Tigers scored first with 45 seconds left in the 1st Quarter, but failed the conversion. University then returned the favour by scoring on the kick-off return in the first seconds of the 2nd Quarter. The scoring partnership was seen again when University scored with 36 seconds left in the quarter and the Tigers responding with another score as the time expired in the first half. The Tigers then went on to score again in the last half never allowing the University Firebirds a chance to be close to the goal line. |

30 Oct After last week defeating Canberra Uni Firebirds Tuggeranong Tornadoes momentum to restart their winning streak was stopped once again by the Canberra Tigers 10 - 6 today. The Tigers newly found Special Teams member (Kicker/Wide Receiver) scored a 47 yard field goal early in the 2nd Quarter. The Tornadoes responded by running in a touchdown with 44 seconds remaining in the 2nd Quarter. The game was entirely defensive until the Tigers surged forward with a 7 point score with 6:25 left in the 4th Quarter. |

13 Nov In the second last round of the 1999 season and with a number of key players missing, the UC Firebirds were not able score against the Tigers. At the end of the third quarter the score was still 0 - 0, but early in the 4th the Tigers broke the deadlock with a pass that resulted in 6 points on the board followed by a PAT kick for the extra point. |

27 Nov The Canberra Tigers Defeated 4 time Capital Bowl Champions, The Tuggeranong Tornadoes 25 to 8 in Capital Bowl VII. The Tigers scored a TD in the 1st quarter with 11:20 to go but failed to convert the extra point. The Tigers scored again in the 2nd quarter with 1:55 remaining until half time, again the Tigers failed to convert and went to the half time break leading 12 - 0. The Tornadoes defence held the Tigers to a scoreless 3rd quarter. But the Tigers broke the through again and scored yet another TD in the 4th quarter with 14:50 to go and kicked for a successful one point conversion. The Tigers, looking for a long sought after championship scored another TD with 1:02 to go and the extra point gremlin got them again. The Tornadoes regained their pride and bounced back with a TD 36 seconds remaining and converted on the run for 2 points. |
